Bloodflood

Art by João Lira

She felt it in stillness
A quiet pull, a soft release.
In love with the spilling,
She welcomed it with peace.

Her body emptied in silent grace,
As blood adorned the hollow space.
With glassy eyes, she watched it flow,
Herself unraveling, slow...

And in that flood, so wide, so deep,
She found a wholeness that flesh can't keep.
For what poured out was never gone
It joined the pulse she'd always known.
