Glimpse

Art by João Lira

She blinked just once and saw beyond,
A flicker where no time belonged.
The veil split thin, the truth slipped through,
And all she began to skew.

Her eyes rolled white, her jaw unstrung,
A song of silence left her tongue.
Body unwound in threads, one by one.
Melted into shapes not there.

The glimpse was brief, but left its mark
Her skin was consumed by something dark.
A truth no mind was meant to keep,
She felt it sinking far too deep.
